Occurs in seaward reefs. Prefers sandy and rubble patches of seaward reefs below 18 m. Feeds on echinoids, fishes, molluscs, tunicates, crustaceans, algae, polychaete worms, foraminiferans and detritus. Also taken by drive-in nets (Ref. 9770).
