A common urban weed in this area. The dense, low-growing mat is typical of this species although other ecotypes have a more ascending habit. Called Equal-leaved Knotgrass because the other common British knotgrass, Polygonum aviculare, has the leaves of the main stems larger than the leaves of the branches.
